Christopher D. Caron, P.E., is the district engineer for TxDOT's Corpus Christi District.
The district comprises 10 counties: Aransas, Bee, Goliad, Jim Wells, Karnes, Kleberg, Live Oak, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio.
Caron oversees the planning, designing, building, operation and maintenance of the state transportation system for the Corpus Christi District. His most recent assignment was the Yoakum District Engineer. He served previously as Deputy District Engineer for the Corpus Christi District for several years.
While attending college, Caron joined the TxDOT family in 1984 as a summer hire in the Corpus Christi District's Alice Area Office. Once he finished his collegiate career, Caron joined the department full-time in 1990 in the Karnes City Area Office.
In 1995, Caron was selected as assistant area engineer for the George West Area Office, and two years later was named the Area Engineer for the Alice Area Office. In March 2011 Caron accepted the position of Beaumont Area Engineer, serving in that capacity until he accepted the Corpus Christi Deptuy District Engineer position.
Caron graduated from Southwestern University in 1987 with a BA in Mathematics and from Texas A&M University in 1989 with a BS in Civil Engineering. He earned his professional engineer license in 1995.
