ODESSA – Two projects on West Loop 338 near Interstate 20 in Ector County will affect traffic for the next six months.

The first project will start March 16 and take about two weeks to complete. FNH Construction will resurface West Loop 338 between Interstate 20 and Business Interstate 20. Daily lane closures will be necessary as work progresses. The plan calls for all lanes to be open again at night for this project. The work is part of a larger $2 million routine maintenance contract that will make repairs in various locations around Ector County.

A longer-term project is scheduled to start on March 23. SCR Civil Construction will make repairs to the West Loop 338 overpass that spans Interstate 20. This work is expected to take about five months. The work will require lane closures on the Loop 338 overpass, including some closures that will stay in place overnight. Daily closures on Interstate 20 will also be needed from time to time.

Message boards will be in use during the duration of the project to alert motorists of upcoming traffic pattern changes. The work will consist of various bridge preventive maintenance work as well as some repair work to concrete and bridge rails. SCR won the project with a low bid of $1,070,006.40.

The speed limit will be reduced to 45 miles per hour in the work zone on West Loop 338. Motorists are asked to obey all warning signs and any flaggers they encounter in the work zone.
